Q:  My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about?

Q:  How do I find the right cosmetic dentist?

A:  With so many options available to consumers to improve their smiles, it is now more important than ever for patients to ask their dentist about his or her experience in performing cosmetic procedures.

“Any patient considering a ‘smile makeover’ should ask their dentist about the advanced training in cosmetic dental procedures that the doctor has undergone,” “A great indicator to know if your dentist focuses on cosmetics is whether he or she is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.”

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry®
The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) is the largest international dental organization dedicated specifically to the art and science of cosmetic dentistry. Founded in 1984, the AACD has over 6700 members in the United States and more than 50 countries around the globe. AACD members seek out continuing education through lectures, workshops, and publications in order to keep up-to-date with all of the advancements in cosmetic dental techniques and technology.

AACD Recommendations When Seeking a Cosmetic Dentist
In order to make sure your dentist is skilled in cosmetic dentistry, the AACD recommends that you ask for the following items before undergoing treatment. As is the case when undergoing any dental treatment, please consult with your dentist to find out which procedure is right for you.

Before and After Photos - Examine the dentist's treatment results on other patients to make sure his or her work fits your dental needs.

References - Get a sense from other patients as to what type of quality care the dentist provides.

Continuing Education - Be certain that your dentist is an active AACD member and has taken continuing education courses to keep up-to-date with the latest techniques in clinical cosmetic dentistry.

Q:  How can I safely whiten my teeth?

A:  With so many whitening products being advertised on the market, many of our patients ask about the best method to whiten their teeth. Since each mouth is unique, we need to evaluate your teeth in order to recommend a specific product. If your teeth are cracked, chipped or discolored, Dr. Adajar may recommend one of our restorative services, such as veneers or bonding. If you want to bleach your teeth, we offer several bleaching products, including Zoom®, Opalescence®, Tres White®, or Brite Smile®. To find out which method is right for you, call us today at (632) 637-0591 to schedule an appointment.

Q:  What makes you different than any other dental practice I can visit?

A:  We like to think that our care for you as a patient as well as the quality of our dentistry sets us apart. Your comfort and concern is our number one priority, and we’re not happy unless you’re happy.

A lot of things make us different. First, we complete a comprehensive examination of your teeth, gums, joints and other tissue in your mouth when you first visit us. We even create a digital photo album of your mouth using our intra oral camera. That’s way, we can see everything going on in your mouth and show you what is happening as well.

From there, we create a customized dental treatment plan that is designed around your life. In this plan, we consider a number of factors, such as the stability of your bite and the structure of your jaw.

Finally, we treat you with high quality cosmetic and restorative services in a state-of-the-art facility that includes the latest equipment and is manned by a highly-trained and exceptionally gifted staff. To truly know what makes us different, however, we suggest that you stop in and see us. Or you can schedule an appointment by calling us at (632) 637-0591.

Q:  I really do not like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?

A:  It is said that there is nothing to fear except fear itself. We think that is the problem with a lot of dentists - they do not tell you what is going on in your mouth and make their treatments seem mysterious. When you do not know why a problem is occurring or why a treatment is being suggested, dentistry can seem a little scary.

Dr. Adajar takes the time to do an exhaustive examination of your mouth. With this exam, he can show you where problems are occurring and offer you options on what you can do about it. When you have the knowledge, you can work with Dr. Adajar to design a healthy and beautiful smile and maintain it throughout your lifetime.

A:  When Dr. Adajar recommends these services, it is usually as part of a permanent restoration. All of these products are comfortable in your mouth, long-lasting and look completely natural.

You can learn about some of these procedures on our Patient Education page. If you are curious about any treatment we recommend, we welcome your questions. Dr. Adajar strives to keep up on the latest research and can explain why these procedures might be best for you.

Q:  What is Smile Analysis?

A:  In a smile analysis, Dr. Adajar looks at all the factors that compose a smile: the shape of a smile, the size, the smile line; and the position of your teeth, lips, and gums when you smile. She listens carefully to your concerns and what you want to accomplish. Once we have this information, we can provide a custom smile design.
